Our Visit to Owairaka School

This term we are learning about Creativity. One of the exciting projects that the Year 2s are investigating is whether Meadowbank School is a good school to look after chickens. We visited Owairaka School because they have chickens so that we could learn from them what it takes to look after chickens at school.

Here is a video of some of the things we saw and learnt.

Share what you learnt from our trip to Owairaka School or what you enjoyed seeing.

Class discussions

This week we have been learning how to use "I agree" or "I disagree" statements during group discussions. It is important to give a reason to support what you think by using "because" so people know why you think that.

Lets start a discussion and try to use "I agree" or "I disagree" statements.

Should chickens be allowed to live in our classroom? Why do you think that?

All about chickens

Last week we had two special visitors who came in the talk to us about chickens. We had lots of questions that we wanted to find answers to because Mrs Manning has asked us to find out if our school is a good enough school to look after chickens.

Martin told us how he looks after his chickens and then he showed us a few of his chicken eggs. He had lots of great answers.

Then we had a surprise because Mrs Masters brought in her two chickens. It was such a awesome surprise.

What did you learn about chickens?

A visit from Dan and Paula

Special guests Dan and Paula came to our school today to talk about how they are creative and how we can be as well. Dan was extremely funny and entertaining with his clever stories. Paula amazed us with her wonderful artistic skills.

We learnt that we can all be creative even if we think we are not.

What was your favourite part of the visit?

Footsteps Dancing

What a fun afternoon we had today at school. We had a special guest come to teach us how to dance. Our dance had a Spanish twist. There were lots of fun moves and actions to make up the dance.

What was your favourite part about learning the dance?
