Today we had a special visit from Lincoln the dog and his handler. We learnt lots of ways to be safe around dogs.

Making Inferences

Our group is learning about making inferences. We looked at the picture and said what we could see. Then we asked questions about what we saw. Finally we used the clues to make inferences about what we thought was happening in the picture.

It was fun using Popplet to record our ideas.

Can you make an inference about the picture using specific clues?

Lucas the Lizard

This week our big book is called Lucas the Lizard. We used Kidpix to record what the story was about. There are a few more chapters to go before the end of the book.

Can you make a prediction about what you think will happen next?

Our Visit to Owairaka School

This term we are learning about Creativity. One of the exciting projects that the Year 2s are investigating is whether Meadowbank School is a good school to look after chickens. We visited Owairaka School because they have chickens so that we could learn from them what it takes to look after chickens at school.

Here is a video of some of the things we saw and learnt.

Share what you learnt from our trip to Owairaka School or what you enjoyed seeing.

Class discussions

This week we have been learning how to use "I agree" or "I disagree" statements during group discussions. It is important to give a reason to support what you think by using "because" so people know why you think that.

Lets start a discussion and try to use "I agree" or "I disagree" statements.

Should chickens be allowed to live in our classroom? Why do you think that?
